[USYD] Alternative English language tests extended to S2, 2021

Alternative English language tests extended to Semester 2, 2021

During COVID-19 the University has extended a number of initiatives to assist our commencing students. These apply during COVID-19 and so will assist you for not just the S1 2021 intake but for students applying for S2 2021 as well. Here are some key reminders:

  • We have extended the current English language test validity to 3 years.

  • We accept the IELTS Indicator from countries where standard testing procedures are not currently available.

  • We accept the TOEFL Special Home Edition from countries where standard testing procedures are not currently available.

Please find detailed information on https://www.sydney.edu.au/study/coronavirus-infection-university-of-sydney-advice/study-information/international-students-and-visas.html including any exclusions. The University acceptance of these tests is not related to any visa requirement.

Advice to students who are unable to sit for the SAT Essay and ACT Writing exam

Due to the impact of the COVID-19, we have decided to continue accepting SAT or ACT without the Essay/Writing component for Semester 2, 2021.

As the SAT Essay test will be discontinued from June 2021, we will not require the SAT Essay and ACT Writing exam from Semester 1, 2022 applicants taking the SAT or ACT exam for academic assessment. However, if English is not their first language, applicants are required to provide an English test to meet the University English requirements.
