[WSU] Approval of the plan to return international students

Plan to welcome back international students

WSU is delighted to share with you that the NSW Government has announced a plan to start returning a small number of international students to NSW by the end of the year.

Our international students are a much-valued part of our University community and the approval of this plan is incredibly welcome news.

The pilot plan is a joint undertaking between the NSW Government, Study NSW and all NSW universities and will see a limited number of 250 students return to NSW each fortnight from December 2021.

The students will need to be fully vaccinated with a Therapeutic Goods Administration recognised COVID-19 vaccination before landing in Sydney. Priority will be given to continuing students who require practical placement or lab-based study activities in NSW to complete their studies.

We know that many of our students are keen to find out more about their eligibility to return under the plan. NSW universities are currently working with the NSW Government to finalise details and we will communicate further information to students in the coming weeks.

Only a small number of currently enrolled Western Sydney University students will be eligible to return in the initial phase. However, this is an important first milestone that puts us firmly on the path to welcome more students to Australia in the near future.
